THE GATE OF DEATH OF AUSCHWITZ-BIRKENAU, POLAND
In the year 1943, this gate was built which was long after the camp itself opened. Before the railroad tracks were laid in 1944, it was just being used only by pedestrians and trucks.
People were carted away through this gate which was more of Jews. People who had the strength to work were allowed to do so, and those with no strength were sent to one of the four gas chambers while other were instantly gassed.
More than a million of people were killed in this camp ranging from Jews, Soviet Prisoners of war, Poles, Roma and people of other countries.
The statistics of the people that were killed sequentially: over 900,000, 15,000, 74,000, 21, 000 and 10,000.
27th of January, 1945, the Soviet soldiers got through this gate and put an end to the killings but that was after the departure of the Nazis.
